NOTE: Many potential (new) Scottish Rite candidates may be interested in applying for Scottish Rite membership on-line and having the process done electronically. This instruction sheet can be distributed by 1^st Line Signers to potential new candidates to assist them in completing the on-line petition. Please note that Master Masons in good standing who live outside of Illinois (but in the USA, however) can join a Valley in Illinois.

STEP 1.  GO TO THE SCOTTISH RITE WEBSITE, scottishritenmj.org

STEP 2.  At home page (at the upper right side of page), click on “JOIN”

STEP 3.  click on “JOIN SCOTTISH RITE FREEMASONRY”

STEP 4.  Complete the application… type in name, occupation, Blue Lodge, etc.

1.  Use the dropdown for the State

2.  Use the dropdown for the Valley… Quincy

3.  Type in information for Recommending Brother (1^st Line Signer)

   NOTE: 1^ST LINE SIGNER IS NOT MANDATORY; MUST VERIFY BLUE LODGE, HOWEVER.

4.  Click “yes” if there is a 2^nd Line Signer to be recorded

   
   

5. STEP 5.  When the on-line application is complete,

1. A copy can be printed off

2. Click on “SUBMIT”

After the application is submitted, it is sent electronically to the Valley Secretary and noted “pending member application”. The Secretary will review the petition, correct any errors, enter the Effective Date (Reunion Date) and click ADD to enter the information into MDS and generate a member number. The Secretary will then contact the candidate to discuss payment of fees, Reunion date, dues, etc. The Secretary will also mail out a letter or send an e-mail to both the candidate and 1^st Line Signer.
